President's Report

Greetings IFMA members,

June is the first month of summer and it definitely feels like it. We are getting some warm sunny days, with refreshing afternoon rain showers. We had a great presentation in May on Air Quality in Commercial Spaces. That is definitely a hot topic for companies that have people coming back into the office.

We have another great event planned for our June monthly educational program. This is our annual combined meeting with IREM, BOMA, and new this year, we have also partnered with the Apartment Association of Southern Colorado. Renewable Energy and Sustainability have been a big part of Facilities Management for a number of years so this will be an exciting event with many speakers. If you are able to attend, I would highly recommend it.

The IFMA Engage site had some discussions recently on Fitness Center reopening, Covid Cleaning, and MERV 13 filters. The IFMA Engage site is a great message board to learn about what other people are doing in their facilities. If you haven’t looked at it recently, I would recommend taking some time to look through some of the discussions, learn from your peers around the country, and let other people know what you are doing.

The local Pikes Peak Chapter is preparing for our biannual board changes. If you have any interest in participating in a committee, please reach out and let me know.

World Workplace has been announced in October of this year. It will be held in Kissimmee Florida from the 26th to the 28th. This is IFMA’s most highly attended event and the educational and networking opportunities are amazing. Check out the IFMA Work Workplace website for more information.

Our chapter is committed to providing timely educational sessions and collaboration between professionals. I invite you to stay informed with our monthly newsletters and look forward to seeing everyone in person soon.

Jeremy Bergeron, Pikes Peak Chapter Vice Present

Melissa J.T. Jorgensen

*Management Assistant
Commercial Property Services - Griffis Blessing

Why did you join IFMA?

I joined specifically to get more involved with the community and meet like minded people in the same industry and with similar visions of what I believe could be happening in our line of work.

What’s your biggest (or one of your biggest) professional accomplishment(s) so far?

I would say getting my Real Estate License and passing the LSAT were two life changing accomplishments I take pride in.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

“Opportunities will come and go but make sure which ever ones you go with, you support and try with 110% effort, no if’s, and’s or but’s, leaving zero room for regret”

What’s one item you can’t live without?

Carmex – weird I know

If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

I’ve never really thought about trading places although I wouldn’t mind being an animal such as a bird or cat just to get a different perspective and experience.
